I’m writing a story and I need to have dragons, magic, skilled assassins, ruthless Monarchs, Princesses in distress, mythical beast, noble knights, magical weapons, enchanted armor, and …. Wait a minute…. I need a fantasy world. None of this will take place in Florida and surely, I can’t justify being a “member of a guild of assassins” as my last place of employment. No, no. I need to create a fantasy world.
I need a setting, and if it’s a land mass, planet, or solar system, I will have to incorporate several things to help me get started as a basic to my Worldbuilding and designing my fantasy world.
Food and Drink
Time and Distance
Just to name a few……
What are the people on my world like?
What does my world look like?
What animals lives in my world?
Think of these things like characters in your book, because they will have an impact on your main characters in the story. Your world can also be a villain, by causing delays to your story and/or characters. A great storm, volcano, flood, earthquake…they can all play a role as villains or heroes in your story by helping your main characters or hindering them.
